“None of us is as smart as all of us.”
This quote by Ken Blanchard, summarizes the ActivTimes Team. Recognizing the extraordinary creative abilities of those in the activity profession, and promoting their ideas, is a vital aspect of the services we provide. ActivTimes consultants, writers and advisory committee represent a diverse group of “hands on” professionals.
Hayley Moseley is an Activity Consultant Certified and CMDCP. She holds a BA and MA in English and continues to teach at the college level. She began working in long term care as a middle school volunteer and has worked in communities across the continuum of care. She has also served as President of the Activity Professionals Association of Greater Dallas. Her expertise on the team includes skilled nursing policy and procedures, effective writing for the activity department, volunteer training and the application of technology to activity programs. She first developed the “Technotivities” program in 2012 as part of her MEPAP 2 project. Hayley’s philosophy is to learn to work “smarter not harder.” She is pursuing an Ed.D. In Educational Leadership at Dallas Baptist University.
Shelley Davis-Dollins is a contributor to the Purple Thumb Club. She is an Activity Director Certified and a CDP. She first started in memory care as an activity director in 2013, and because of her social gerontology background, quickly learned that each person is different and so is their journey. What works for one person may not work for another – and it may not work for that same person all the time! But when you create the opportunity for the person to connect with their own self and help them be who they are in that moment, then success can be measured by the smiles and joy that radiate from that person. Those moments can shine so bright that their delight can spread to those around them. Shelley has done a video documentary that shows the power of identity in dementia care.
Clair Jameson is a trainer and contributor to the Purple Thumb Club. She has a BS in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Clair has grown in the profession and has been an activity assistant, director, and corporate consultant to over 45 memory care communities. She is a PAC trainer through Teepa Snow’s “Positive Approach to Care” program. Her specialty is the design of purposeful living engagements for people with dementia. Clair believes that setting the tone for respect shown to the residents, upholding high standards for quality programming, and creating community enthusiasm are all a part of the fabric of Life Engagement.
The ActivTimes Advisory committee represents the voice of activity directors, assistants and program cnas in skilled nursing and assisted living.
